I know Adobe doesn’t know it yet but we all know it. Adobe will probably do some magnificent chestbeating followed by whining, then pleading, then an big announcement that the NEW FLASH supports HTML5. They will save minor face by doing so, then things will slowly go back to normal as Adobe shores up in the Photoshop space and concentrates on making the Mac versions better.
Which is something that if they had done it all along anyway, they could have avoided wrecking their car. Something I hold them completely responsible for. Don’t believe me? Just add the hashtag #cs5 to your twitter manager. There are some pretty violent folks out there that outright hate Adobe. I’m only in a love/hate relationship but since acquiring Macromedia the little A tech companies’ done nothing to make me completely love them again. The next version seems so much like the previous version and many of the annoyances just keep on annoying.
I haven’t seen CS5 but the products that I am most exciting about have been described as “improved” or “900 bug fixes”. Yay?
In that same period of time, I can’t go anywhere without being asked about the iPad. iPad this. iPad that. If you don’t think Apple has done it again, then snooze in your sweet dream of sleep. It’s a twopete.
1) iPad is not the most feature packed but has massive early adoption.
2) A slight, and only slight lull in sales.
So Adobe be smart. Be very smart. Embrace not fight. You’ll come out way better over time.
